Children's Leadership Team (CLT)

Welcome to the Children's Leadership Team Page

Check here for updates on our meetings and to see how the CLT are impacting on our school life, as well as the wider community.

The Children’s Leadership Team (CLT) is made up from class representatives from Years 3-6. They meet on a regular basis to discuss the school and they liaise with children in their classes and those in EYFS and years 1 and 2. The Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson and Treasurer run the meetings and liaise with Miss Grassie.

Minutes from each meeting are circulated to classes and staff and these are also discussed during half-school assemblies ensuring the CLT are the pupil voice for the school.

Over the past few years CLT have successfully reinstated a lollipop person on the crossing outside the school, organised charity events such as Red Nose Day and Children in Need and have canvassed the school about their views on school lunches, reporting back to the lunch team.

In addition to all of the above the CLT regularly communicate with and meet their link governor, Matt Hogg.

Children’s Leadership Team- Agenda and Minutes

Thursday 7th June 2018

  • CLT Focus Group - lunchtimes

Maizie (4W) has started a Year 1 ‘Let’s Talk’ group to replace the Upper School group, as the younger children were very keen to participate. She has had to limit numbers to 5 children per session as it was becoming very popular. She now talks or reads with 5 children per session and tries to ensure different children come each time. She will be running the group on Mondays and Wednesdays at lunchtime.

  • CLT Board post-its

Ruby (5V) – has asked for us to run more open mornings so parents get more opportunities to get involved with their child’s learning. Rima and Walaa will ask her for more clarification (e.g. which curriculum areas) and then take the ideas to Sue.

    More club suggestions: Gardening; Cooking

  • Clubs

Results of class surveys for Mr Coles: Basketball; art; cooking; ping pong; dance; gardening; squash; cricket; science; reading / book club; ‘healthy’ club (mini MEND); 4-square; Church club (Run by Becca? / Friend of Becca?); Suggestion of restarting a homework club

Year 6 are very interested in the idea of helping to run an after-school ‘Mini MEND’ club. Ashley and Myla will talk to Dev and Alba to get their ideas and suggestions and then take their proposal to Sue

Meeting Wednesday 13th December 2017

Today the CLT met with our school governor, Matt Hogg.

Ashley and Myla impressed Matt with the smooth running of the meeting. They made sure everybody introduced themselves then we updated Matt on everything the CLT have achieved in their first term. The children were very keen to share their ideas and the work they have done so far.

At the end, Matt asked the children whether there was anything they would like his help with the next time he meets with them. They all agreed that it would be great to build upon their leadership skills and their confidence with feeding back to the children who elected them as their representatives.

Thank you Matt. See you next term!

Happy Christmas from the CLT!

  • Healthy Schools Update

  1. Salad bar – CLT members monitored why some children are still not selecting salad. They did a great job of encouraging children to choose salad.
