Early Years Foundation Stage  (EYFS)

Pupils in Reception are continually assessed throughout the academic year in order to measure their achievements against the Early Learning Goals (ELG).

At the end of the year teachers will assess the pupils against the 17 ELG's.  A child is assessed stating whether they are emerging, expected or exceeding against the 17 areas.  Schools are judged on the number of pupils who are achieving a Good Level of Development (GLD).

GLD is achieved when a pupils receives an expected (2) or exceeding (1) in all of the following areas: Communication & Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Literacy & Maths
