Joshua's Letter

Below is a letter written by Joshua in Year 6.

Dear Mrs Hayward and Ms Hall

I am writing to you on behalf of the year 6 cohort to request an end of year visit to Richmond Park. I feel certain you will agree to this proposal as you are two of the most compassionate, understanding and outstanding school leaders there are.  Having been a pupil at SJL for 8 years, an experience in Richmond Park would be the highlight of my primary school journey.

It is undeniable that year 6s dedication to their studies ahs been incomparable. First and foremost, we have endured the gruelling terror of SATs; and have prepared for it all year.

To begin with, we have taken on extra homework such as the dreaded CGP books and boosters to support our mathematic and literacy skills.  This led to myself and my peers sacrificing our afternoons and weekends; missing quality time with family. Finally, although the stress of SATs may be behind us, our relentless work ethic has not faltered.  Step foot in to the resilient year 6 classroom and you will find 32 brilliant, hardworking minds applying their potential into their writing. Remarkably we have produced two divine pieces of work in just two weeks!

There is no question that Richmond Park would be academically beneficial as well as boosting morale. It would allow us to be at one with nature and provide outdoor learning opportunities. This trip will supply us with a chance to decompress after an extremely stressful year. Richmond is not just a playground it is a calm, safe place filled with wildlife.  Visiting the park will offer a new experience for the majority of 6P and will allow us to analyse free-roaming deer up close; explore different species, which some of us have only seen in books: and study various habitats. Not to mention the sheer enjoyment of free play in an open space without the worry of losing school balls!

Lastly, a journey to Richmond Park would be the most memorable, magnificent and magical day of my primary school life! For many of us, this will be one of the final times we will be called a class because in a matter of weeks, we will be departing to our new secondary schools.

In conclusion, I know that if you agree to this, I would feel as delighted as winning the world cup. A leavers trip would be the perfect icing on the cake to end this SJL story. Richmond Park is the optimum reward for our flawless and tireless work: and an unforgettable way to cement our time at SJL. We all know that you always have our best interests at heart, which is why I know you will agree to our proposal.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Joshua
