Art and Design
At Sir John Lillie Primary School, our Art and Design curriculum inspires creativity, self-expression, and an appreciation for artistic traditions and innovation. Rooted in the National Curriculum, our program enables children to develop their artistic skills through hands-on exploration of a wide range of media and techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles, and digital art.
Through engaging lessons, our children study the works of significant past and present artists, designers, and craftspeople from diverse cultures, encouraging them to reflect on and take inspiration from different artistic styles and movements. They are encouraged to experiment, take creative risks, and evaluate their work to build confidence and resilience in expressing their unique ideas.
Our curriculum nurtures the imagination and equips children with the technical knowledge and skills to bring their visions to life. By fostering a love for art and design, we aim to develop not only future artists but also confident, reflective learners with an appreciation for the rich, creative world around them.
