Religious Education
Sir John Lillie Primary School believes that Religious Education should provide a
contemporary study of religion, preparing children for later life.
Our aim is for children to learn not only about different religions and world views, but also to increase their depth of understanding by encouraging them to consider what they can learn from different religions.
The school bears in mind that the UK is a multi-cultural nation which has Christianity as the main religion of the population. As a result, Christianity will receive the appropriate weighting within the religious education curriculum. Due consideration within this framework will be given to other faiths, in order to reflect the beliefs of our families and the local area. Respect, tolerance and understanding for the beliefs of others will be promoted at the forefront of our programme.
The school follows Hammersmith and Fulham's Locally Agreed Syllabus to plan and teach RE.
